dc.description.abstract | Published data concerning Stark widths for spectral lines originating from 3s-3p transition arrays of multiply charged ions of different elements are used to demonstrate their dependence on the upper level ionization potential and the rest core charge of the emitter seeing by the electron undergoing transition. The relations found for particular electron temperatures and densities have been used to predict Stark widths of the following highly striped ions where not yet available: Mg VII, Mg IX, Mg X, Na VII, Na VIII, Al VIII, Al X, Al XI, Si XI, Ti XI, Cr XIII, Cr XIV, Fe XV, Fe XVI, Fe XXIII, and Ni XVIII. The accuracy of the data obtained is comparable to the accuracy of the experimental and theoretical values used in establishing these dependences. © 2008. The American Astronomical Society.
