The full symmetry groups of the carbon nanotubes are line groups for the single-wall ones, while line or point groups for the multi-wall ones. Knowing the symmetry of these compounds, the investigation of different phenomena is facilitated. Especially, the stability of the different configurations of the double-wall tubes is studied. Besides, some tensorial properties are analyzed with help of the general form of the tensors determined by symmetry.en
