Abstract:
Broadening of the resonance 324.754nm and 327.396nm copper (Cu I) lines have been investigated in the laser-induced copper spectrum in the residual atmospheric pressure of 8Pa at 19300K electron temperature, and electron density of 2.1×1023m-3. The second harmonic of the Nd:YAG laser at 532nm was applied for evaporation of atoms from the copper target. The Stark and Doppler broadening were found as the most significant mechanisms in the line shape formation at the actual plasma parameters. Measured Stark widths (W) were compared to existing experimental and theoretical W data. The role of the hyperfine structure (HFS) components in the resonance Cu I line shapes formation was, for the first time, discussed taking also into account the isotope shift (IS). © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
